You can test to see if Deviate Tracking is installed properly using the “Test Server Events” option in Facebook Events Manager. Visit your Facebook Events Manager and select your Facebook Pixel.

Inside the screen, you’ll see a “Test Events” tab. And within that, you’ll see a section, “Test Server Events.” You’ll need the test_event_code when you enter into your GTM. In this example, the code is TEST55084.

Now visit your Google Tag Manager and locate the tag you want to test. For this example, we’ll use Facebook Pixel. Open the User Data Parameters section and check the box, “Send as a Test Event?” Then paste the test code into the “Test Event Label” field. Then click Save.

Go back to the Events Manager page and in the “Test Browser Events” section, enter your domain associated with your Facebook pixel/event. Then click on, “Open Website.”

In the new screen (showing your website), take the action needed to trigger that event of interest. In this example, since it’s pageview, we just have to load the website. And if you look at the Server tab, you should see the events being processed (and that you are receiving activity via the test code).

This shows that you are receiving events from the server properly.

Once this is confirmed, you may remove the test code from your GTM tag by unchecking the “Send as a Test Event” box, saving, and then republishing.
